It’s Tuesday morning. Just over a week ago, I posted this at Facebook*:
«Now that Biden has been outed blithely fiddling with staffers in the Rose Garden while Americans bleed in Israel, isn’t it time for the 100 percent Democrat media to start hedging their bets in print and on TV? If there’s a possibility that Old Joe could blunder his way out of the White House, shouldn’t the more acute(?) news reporters be asking Michelle Obama what she thinks about the Hamas assault on an important American ally?
They could ask her a lot of things offering an opportunity for the former First Lady to show off her knowledge and wisdom about Middle East policy. What’s her opinion of the reliability of American and Israeli intelligence that didn’t see this coming? What’s her view of the best response? For example, does she prefer the Biden approach of ignoring the bloodshed and hoping it just goes away? Or does she agree with the progressives in her own party, like AOC and the Squad, who want to have parades celebrating the torture-murders of Jews and send more money to Hamas and Iran? What would she say, as a mother and potential candidate for high office, to the families of American daughters and sons killed, mutilated and/or held hostage in Gaza?
You know she’s just waiting to be asked. Jumping in front of a microphone without being invited would look too forward, ambitious. But responding to foreign policy correspondents’ questions with detailed analysis of the history, global issues, and military complications associated with any course of action could make people forget that she’s a lawyer who never practiced law and a First Lady whose only public endeavor was destroying the nation’s school lunch program. It could even make them forget that her White House résumé consists almost entirely of shopping in exotic capitals, vacationing in exotic resorts, and taking credit for the work of staffers who organized WH Christmas decorations and Easter Egg Hunts in the Rose Garden. Especially if she shows up for once in a tasteful, well-tailored business suit.
She’d be irresistible as long as she demonstrates a level of intelligence and verbal facility slightly better than Kamala Harris has managed to do as Vice President.
So why isn’t the press camped at her front door at this very moment?
I mean look at her. She’d be great…
Wouldn’t she?»
That’s what I wrote. In the whole week since I wrote it you haven’t seen those interviews with Michelle, have you? Not even one. Got my first and only comment on it this morning. “Good point.”
I called this a Prologue because it’s just part of a larger problem nobody anywhere wants to talk about in public. Which I’ll do next time.

For the benefit of those who don’t know it Facebook is a small kaffee klatch I run in a remote corner of the Internet for some old friends who don’t like the tone over at Twitter and do like my funny graphics from time to time.. I like having them around and sometimes they pretend to like what I write there. They click the “Like” button and we’re all happy. I also indulge myself at FB by writing notes and letters to myself as if anyone in the klatch can still read anything longer than the 277 character spaces at Twitter or, on the outside, the 550 character spaces at Truth Social. Sometimes, though, I feel obliged to share what I’ve learned writing notes to myself with a wider audience. That’s where you come in. I hope.
